SDHS Food Pantry Update

The SDHS Food Pantry will not be open for weekly food pickups this year. However, we will be putting together food hampers at Thanksgiving, Winter Break, April, and June. The Thanksgiving Hamper will be given out to registered families on October 9th. Thanksgiving Hampers will be for SDHS families only.

We will expand our list to families with students from SPS, Morning Glory, Deer Park, or Black River for future food hampers. Families must register using this link no later than Monday, October 6th, 2025. We have limited hampers available, so please register as soon as possible.

School Start-Up Forms

Parents/guardians received an email from YRDSB Update with instructions to complete start-up forms. It is important that these forms are completed as soon as possible at the start of the school year as they contain information and permissions.

The forms can be found in the family dashboard at family.yrdsb.ca .  Click on the arrow by your child’s name and select the start-up forms button. You can choose your language. Please follow these steps for each child.  Forms will automatically populate with your child’s information through the Dashboard.

Learn how to create a Family Dashboard account if you do not have one.

The forms are also available online at https://startupforms.yrdsb.ca . You will need your child’s student number.  Tips are available on the Board website. Translation is also available on the website.

Please note:  You must complete a separate form for each child attending school. If you prefer to complete the forms on paper or have questions about the information in the forms, please contact the school office.

Secondary School Student Forms

Secondary school students can complete the secondary school student form at https://startupforms.yrdsb.ca/students . They will also receive the link in their student GAPPS account.

Sutton District High School hosted their annual Terry Fox Run on the rain date of Sept 29. This marked the 45th anniversary of the Marathon of Hope.  Our school and community raised over $1,122.25 for cancer research!

Thank you to Ms. Roncato’s classes, and thank you to our students and staff that participated in this worthy cause!

SDHS Guidance Department - We’re Here to Help!

Timetable changes for first semester have concluded.  Although some student continue to speak with us about semester 1 options, at this point in the semester, they are advised that changes are not advised or possible.

We continue to work on second semester timetable concerns.  We should be done by the end of next week.  Students will have an opportunity to request a change for second semester in December.

Today, the grade 12 students were invited to attend a post-secondary information session.  This information is posted in their guidance google classroom.  During the week of October 15th, grade 12 students will receive their Ontario Education Number (OEN) and our school’s Mident Number (school ID).  This will be shared directly from the school board.  Please be sure to keep this information as it is necessary to apply to college or university.

The Georgina Post-Secondary Fair will once again take place at Keswick High School this year and will be on Thursday November 6 from 6-8pm.

Please note that this year there will be no college fair as have taken place in the past where a college hosts several others as an easy way for students and their families to gather program information.  Instead colleges are inviting you to attend their own open house.  Please visit individual college websites to learn more.  Most open houses take place weekends between now and December.

The SDHS Honours assembly will take place on October 23rd in the afternoon.  Students should receive their invitations sometime next week.

Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to connect with us.
